I actually discovered Fist of the North Star out of curiosity last year during August and it quickly became one of my favorite anime series. I can't wait until the 3rd box comes out.
I became a fan this year; can't believe I held off watching it for so long!
The movie really is the most violent anime movie of all time (that I've seen anyway).
My first exposure to this franchise was Legends of the Dark King.
So I actually got to be introduced to this franchise from a different perspective.
I'm watching the TV series at the moment and enjoying it very much.
Question.
Anyone know why Manga Entertainment stopped dubbing after episode 36?
Low sales? Or were the dubbing costs too much to handle at the time?
Seems to be selling well these days for Discotek. True that it's in affordable box sets compared to the singles era but this show seems to have a huge fanbase so it would be a bit surprising if it still didn't do well even when first released.
Yeah, watching the DVDs on the TV makes the show a lot more enjoyable for me to watch. Also, the new set is coming this Tuesday. I can't wait to get it.
Has anybody been watching this streaming on Funimations website? If so, has anyone noticed the subtitles being a little off? For example, from episode 5, the subtitles say "A normal man cannot withstand even take one hit." That doesn't even make sense, take out "take" and it makes sense I guess. I found some other subtitles to use for reference, and they seem much better. They say "An ordinary man couldn't even take one thrust of my finger." That makes a lot more sense, he is sticking his finger into Ken's chest, so having the Funi subs say "take one hit" doesn't make sense either.
I figured Funimation would have the best subs, surely better than fan subs, but now I'm not so sure.

^I think that's the best cover art for the boxsets so far. July can't go fast enough.
Right Stuf link for collection 3 now up on second post.
I still need to pick these up. Not too big a fan of streaming a series like this.
